DIY Easy Laundry Detergent

Easy Homemade Laundry Detergent! -that is fun to make

Ingredients:

  • 1 box Borax
  • 1 box Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
  • 1 5lb container of Oxiclean
  • 1 5.5oz Fels Naptha Laundry Bar
  • Optional: 1 container of Downy Unstopables for a fresh scent

Total spent to make this: $34, compared to the $100 I would have spent in store bought detergent for 9 months

This makes enough detergent for 9 months when using the suggested 1 tablespoon per load.

Directions:
1. Gather your ingredients, I ordered mine from Amazon.com

 2. Grate the Fels-Naptha Bar

 3. Combine ingredients in a Large bucket, I used a 5 gallon bucket bought from Walmart for $2

4. Stir

Note: this scoop came in the Oxiclean and is useful for transferring finished product.

 5. Empty into the containers of your choice I used quart sized mason Jars

REMEMBER! You only need 1 tablespoon per load, can be increased to 2 tablespoons for large loads but you will not need more than that

How To: Dye Your Hair From Box Dye

How To: Dye Your Hair From a Box

Tip: Wear a shirt you don't have to pull over your head, or a shirt that is okay to STAIN

First:
Start with dry unwashed, ATLEAST second day hair.  The natural oils in your hair will protect from the chemicals being applied. Brush your hair, straighten if it is very curly.

Next, Open your preferred box of dye. I am using Nice & Easy in Natural Black
Inside should be your 2 developing liquids, a conditioner for after, a pair of gloves and instructions

Next Pour the bottle labels "1" into bottle labeled "2". PUT THE CAP BACK ON and shake contents, then remove tab on top of bottle 2's cap.

Next. PUT ON YOUR GLOVES

Start at the roots, apply in PARTED sections of hair, be sure to get behind your ears and baby hairs at back of neck!

Quick Tip.Coconut oil will erase the messy dye marks that you got on your skin :)

Now wait 20 minutes, or how ever long your box suggests, then rinse in the shower, then use the conditioner provided in the package, allow it to sit in your hair about 5 minutes before rinsing.

You're Done!
